Speaker cables

I just ordered a mixer that has quarter inch outs. My speakers accept both xlr and quarter inch cables. Is it better to use the same connectors or to adapt to the speakers?

If you use a cable with a 1/4" on one end and XLR on the other that cable will no longer be balanced so it really doesn't really matter which cable you use.
