Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!
May yours be as wonderful as mine is!
Last week, I went to Philadelphia, but it was closed.
Wednesday Before Thanksgiving
Rumor has it that this day is as big or bigger bar night than New Years Eve.
The crowd was really big and we had a constant stream of people walking in the door.
The problem????
These people had no interest in karaoke.
They were not clapping and not singing. Most had totally no interest in anything but talking and drinking. Less than 7 singers for the first 2 hours.
Now I ask what was the reason or the attraction to that bar all night if it wasn't the karaoke?
The best part was the lack of regular singers. I never saw 95% of the total people there, EVER...anywhere before.
I'm baffled.

Ahhh I can help here,
I am in the foodservice business and it is known the day before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar day of the year, it is where everyone re-acquaint's, most people choose that day to catch up with old friends, most of the bar's around here have no entertainment as the crowd wants to mingle, not be entertained,
Now Big Dog, I respect your opinion as I have followed your advice to the t and am very happy with my system, hoever I need some advice, my brother joined us for thanksgiving and he also purchased a PA system and Karaoke player (fun 2 see 2 old guys play like kids, we had fun singing away. all he wants to do is Elvis, he has the suit and every Elvis Karaoke song available, he has the JBL EON which are powered, he likeed my setup as I am totally using my laptop, he is not computer literate at all, and we were trying to figure out how he could simulate my system, then I thought if he is not going to do Karaoke and have fun with the crowd, except to perform, there should be an easier answer for him.
1. How would we connect all his equipment, wants to use the double deck player which only has an input and output using rc cables, his speakers are connected behind his player, if he wanted to add a laptop how would we do it, or is there a away to get let's say 50 songs on a disk then he would have 100 songs on only two disks which would eliminate the laptop. we're planning on getting together again in the next few weeks, I'm a bit more computer literate than he is, I'm more on Micro office than anything else, so I understand a bit, but the Karaoke software and hardware is new to me and I'm learning as I go.

I would use a small 6-8channel mixer. 1- microphone 2 for player and 2 for laptop, 1 or 2 for reverb. Use RCA to 1/4 wires. RCA from laptop to 1/4 in the mixer channel inputs. If he uses only the laptop instead of the player he could use a smaller mixer.
