The error messages are about missing command prompts. CDR101....something or other.
Can I just put the 98 install disc in and run it? Or does something have to be deleted. It will open into safe mode.

Windows 98 SE was my favorite operating system. I put off upgrading to XP as long as I could.
You might be able to place the disc into the drive, reboot, and then choose to boot from the disc when prompted. If that doesn't work you may need to boot to the command prompt and run setup from there.
Depending on what went wrong in the first place you may need to format the C drive and do a fresh install.
