Beer Babes... :0

Post by Bigdog »

Miller Lite Girls and Bud Girls and all the rest..... 8)

When they have these girls show up and give away drinks and trinkets....does it work?

Do you get any regulars from them? Or just a bunch of one-time oglers...

I don't see any value in it.

If they give away drinks...that means nobody is spending any money.

If it brings in no new steady customers...the bar lost big money on the event.

I'm just wondering if they have any actual benefit.

Except for the beer makers, if they get new customers.

I happen to agree with you Bigdog. Having them is almost as bad as having a contest. The crowd shows up expecting to see them and the next show they don't show up because the girls aren't there.

This type of event is for the benefit of the beer distributor. I've never seen one of these where they give away drinks. It's usually associated with something like a "bucket night". The bar may make a good profit on that night but is not likely to gain any regulars.

One of my favorite weekly gigs is at a nearby Hooters. I started this a three weeks ago, and now it's drawing singers from up to 25 and 30 miles away. This is on Wednesday nights, and the area has 27 other shows listed in the local online Karaoke guide and people are driving right past these shows to come to mine. :rocker:

I've asked a few people that mentioned the distance why they drove so far when there are closer shows. Most of them live near another Hooter's that has karaoke on Monday nights, and they specifically wanted to do another night at this Hooters. The reasons they give are:

1) The same company (which I work for) does the Monday show, and the systems are perceived as better than those run by other KJ's ( Bigdog's right - they DO pay attention)

2) MOST of the women mentioned the Hooter's Girls (tm) as a reason. These ladies were serious singers, and flat out stated the waitresses kept their husbands and boyfriends occupied so they could stay longer and sing more!

3) The ones that return mention the crowd is one of the most supportive they've ever sung in front of. EVERYONE gets claps and cheers, especially the first timers. They also mention they like to try new songs here, because they know that even if they "crash and burn" they get praise for trying something new.

The whole vibe is like a big party, and if you'll excuse the pun, it's a real hoot to do.

I better bring this back on topic. One shot "beer babes" probably won't draw regulars, but weekly or nightly "house babes" in conjunction with karaoke is likely to draw as many women as men!
Last week, I went to Philadelphia, but it was closed.

Flatter us. Even if we are old, fat and ugly make us feel like princesses.

Try to make sure it is a place we feel safe. A group of women isn't going to frequent a place where there is a lot of drama going on.

You are so full of it! :D

Making us feel like princesses is better if you're not too terribly ogre-like ugly.

From all the beer babe nights I've seen...if I owned a bar I don't think I would have them. How does 2 hours of them giving away free drinks, make the bar any money?

I think I would make the beer reps pay me to have them there.

Wouldn't that make you a pimp?

I've only seen these girls in action once; it was for flavored vodka. They were giving away T-shirts and other things. The drinks weren't free, but reduced.

I see it more as advertising the drink than advertising the bar. Since that is the case, yes, the bar owner should be paid.

I just talked with one of my bar owners about the beer babes. He had them last week. He said they buy the beer off him at retail and give it away. So he isn't losing money on them. He makes his regular profit.
