Problems installing Hoster

Post by Markm »

Well, here I was already to get started, purchased Power cd+ g burner, and Hoster, and a new external 500gig harddrive, Power burner went smooth, Hoster however asked me to change many settings, which was ok, then when I was ready it would stop me and say make sure you are not blocking Hoster from your computer, I disabled all pop-ups, security, etc. but it would not let me go beyond that message and would not install, sent an e-mail to support, they said they would contact me within 48 hours, I spend a lot of time away from home, so I brought all my stuff with me to my room, looks like I won't be able to continue until I hear from support, do they call you or is it done on line, I won't be back till after 6PM, are they available then? anyone having this problem before? not sure what to do.

Go to the MTU forum and register. Ask your questions there for a quick response. They also have a phone number (1-919-870-0344) although I've never used it.

Thank-you,wiseguy, I called them, they tell me because of the firewall my company has, which there is no way around it, so now I'm back to square one, on options, he says there is no program, that will work

Sounds like you talked with someone who is technology challenged. I've never seen a firewall that couldn't be circumvented. And what did he mean by "there is no program that will work"?

Well, we have high security on our internet access, he says because there is a third pary involved, I would have to ask headquarters to allow me to use the program and reduce the firewall security, which I am sure they will not do, however when I do not use the VPN, I can go anywhere, this is over my head, I asked that all I want to do is play the songs, build a songbook, and not have to type in all the entries, he says Hoster is the only one with the extensive data base, and I would need to buy a new laptop, right now I'm pretty disappointed as i was excited and really alreadt spent more than I should for just practicing with the family. I need to sleep on my options

As said before, it sounds like you've been talking to someone who is Technology challenged.

ALL firewalls have a means of allowing programs to access the web but I'd be very surprised, indeed, if you would be allowed to use your work laptop for an external entertainment system.

Given that most firewalls will pop up to ask if you want to allow a new program to acces the web, I would assume that YOU don't have administrator priviliges on your PC, so I doubt you will be able to run Hoster, ever on this machine.

Sorry!

Well
now I have purchased a new laptop so ready to start over again, however I have the cd+g burner in my old laptop with a different e-mail address than before, as the old one was my work address with the firewall, I have asked MTU support, for advice, they have not responded, I want to uninstall my burner software in my other laptop with the new e-mail address, want to repurchase Hoster and install it on my new laptop, my new laptop will not arrive till July 16th, so I wanted to play cd+g music, I tried the winamp plug ins and that does not work, but love winamp, I asked MYU if I bought cd+g player till I was readt to purchase Hoster (under 39 day time, if they would refund me as I was upgrading, still no word, any ideas?

Did you purchase Microstudio as the CD+G burner? I thought that maybe you went with Power CD+G Burner which is not made by MTU and does not need an internet connection to install.

For any software from MTU to run without limitation it has to be registered and of course this means the internet connection and the whole firewall problem.

Since the Winamp CDG disc playing plugin didn't work it is possible that your CD drive is simply not CDG compatible. You should try a demo copy of Power CD+G Player to make sure.

I am about ready to order this and found some used equipment, the system above is new for $1800, I can buy
2 fairly new JBL TR105, 2 much older JBL MR 825, Qsxrmx 900 watt amplifier, all cords and 2 stands for $1000, what would you do order?

Also I did purchase the power CD+G burner, I'm pretty sure I ordered it from MTU, as I went to the Karaoke software link, they were all there and I know I have the Power cd+g, maybe when purchasing it it brought me to another site with a different vendor, the software works well, however when I do copy and it looks for the song info, it says it can't go to the site, so I ordered my wife a brand new Dell and I'm going to take over hers, I think if when moving to a computer that I have administration rights, if the Pwercd+g burner finds the name of the songs, win amp allows me to export so I can turn my playlist into a text file, that could be my song list creator for now, all I need to do is get it to play the disks, which I could buy power cd player pro, since I won't be doing any gigs in the near future that would give me enough to get started and do some playing. I'm sure you guys are anxious for me to get all this squared away, so I can speak your language somewhat, thanks for all your help.

MTU does not sell Power CD+G Burner. This is a product of Power Karaoke. When you bought the program you received a registration code. You can use this code to install the software on any computer(s). The same is true for Power CD+G Player.

The Power CD+G Burner song lookup problem is being caused by the same thing as the Hoster registration. The firewall will not let it connect to the online server. All this should be resolved when you get the new laptop.

And you should know that the Hoster software is now on sale for a very limited time. The usual price of $229.99 is now $172.50. The discount price is shown at checkout.
