New to Karaoke

Post by smithrl5 »

First let me say I know nothing about Karaoke equipment or discs. I have sang some Karaoke at family events but thats it. I do play music with a group of friends, but only in my basement. Since I have a good PA system and mics I would like to add some Karaoke equipment to have some private parties and maybe do some work at a local bar. I have used my PA and mixer to do a little DJ work but never Karaoke. What I would like to know is in general what is a good medium price player and where should I look for music. Who makes disc and who plays the music on the discs? I know this is asking for a lot of information, but I am looking for some general background info.

Thanks for the help;
Roger

"Google" search the word karaoke. Thousands of karaoke sites will pop up that sell everything you want. The only thing stopping you will be how much you want to spend.

The music isn't cheap. Good musical renditions are expensive. And the cheap music sounds cheap. Most of the KJs are switching over to computers to run their shows. But to be legal you still need the discs. Or receipts for the downloads.
