It's a security element.
Whenever you get ready to send a message, always highlight the message first and do a Control C.
Then whenever your message disappears and you want to send it again you can, instead of retyping everything over again just do a Control V and paste the message. Then send it again.
I use this a standard practice before I preview or send. Always copy it before either of these options.
