You can't complain about corporate greed and then support a candidate who is the definition of it. Romney and the Republican party would continue to allow insurance companies to gouge us and further reduce regulations that let them make outrageous profits off of human suffering.
Why do you continue to say that people will pay the penalty and still not have health insurance? THAT IS THE POINT OF THE PENALTY. It's there to penalize those who CAN AFFORD to buy health insurance but REFUSE TO. You say you don't want to flip the bill for others expenses but you don't seem to mind flipping the bill for people who don't need help.

The option rate isn't the same amount of money. Your insurance will cost more than the penalty. The penalty is their opt out option so they can say and give the ILLUSION of offering you AFFORDABLE healthcare...
Companies will be given an option to provide healthcare for their workers at this rate or not provide it and pay a penatly at a lower rate.
Now that doesn't take a geneious to figure out the bean counters will opt for paying a lesser amount. It all comes down to the bottom line.
Individuals will have the same option depending on their income. Buy insurance at this rate or pay a penalty at the smaller rate. They have written the law to force your participation whether you have insurance or now. They are going to say "well at least we gave you the opton to decide for yourself." You didn't pick to be insured...
If it comes down to eating or buying insurance...what will 99.9999999999999% of the population pick?
People that have "Cadillac plans" or other employer provided plans....will be taxed on the value of those plans because it will be considered part of your income. Causing you to come up with thousands of dollars every year as your tax penalty for having employer provider healthcare.

It's only going to get worse....Again the voters were fed BS. The economy is not getting better. We still have banks failing. We still have 25% unemployment. (real Numbers) We still have home foreclosures. We still have a flip flop stock market. Europe is still on a banana peel as are we. We still have 16 TRILLION dollars in debt and climbing.....We still have to repay with higher taxes....But everything will be better because 350 million people still can't afford to pay the healthcare tax...

I am addicted to one of your TV shows called "The Newsroom" and the 3rd episode concerned itself with your Tea Party, the policies of which I most easily associate with the "Witch of the Western World", Margaret Thatcher, an utter harridon of a woman who basically had the balls of her cabinet ministers in her purse.
She epitomised the "Greed is good" mentality and basically decimated British industry, as well as killing off the National Health Service.

That ends their corporate greed. Keeps costs really low. When you reach 70 years old we just take you out and kill you. So as not to put a strain on the system. I can come up with a bunch of ideas.
How about if you came here illegally you don't get insurance or healthcare. And you go to jail and your family pays to keep you.
How about a flat tax or a National sales tax.

While I think most Americans do not want a fully socialistic society, only the Tea Party and other Republicans on the extreme right consider socialism as evil. However this doesn't prevent them from participating in our social programs if they need them.
I don't know if you have followed this past election, or why you would even want to, but I think it was the most important election of my lifetime. The Tea Party has some very wealthy backers and they have been buying elections at the state level. They attempted to buy the Presidency and some key Senate seats but were refused my an informed American majority.
President Obama has succeeded in doing what no other President has been able to do. He has moved us in the direction of the rest of the civilized world by taking a big step toward universal health care. The plan isn't perfect but it's a beginning. Of course the conservatives are screaming foul.

That means we rely on importing 92% of the inferior crap made by China and other third world countries..NOBODY has the quality that Americans used to produce. Our heavy manfacturing capability is gone forever...and our middle class...we are going backwards. We are heading towards becoming a third world country. Look at our standing in the world. Many other countries have passed us by. We continue to fall behind.
92% of our money goes to help increase the income of foreign countries while ours continues down the road to bankruptcy. Our economy will never grow with an 8% export number.

We don't need 350 million doctors or lawyers or plumbers or auto mechanics or burger flippers. You can not export any of those skills. We now export only 8% of anything we make. That means we rely on importing 92% of the inferior crap made by China and other third world countries..NOBODY has the quality that Americans used to produce. Our heavy manfacturing capability is gone forever...and our middle class...we are going backwards. We are heading towards becoming a third world country. Look at our standing in the world. Many other countries have passed us by. We continue to fall behind.
92% of our money goes to help increase the income of foreign countries while ours continues down the road to bankruptcy. Our economy will never grow with an 8% export number.
HUGE Debt and out of control spending and free hand outs will destroy us. If you ran your personal finances like they are running the government...you'll be bankrupt. It's a failure in the making.

I haven't been on here in a while and it seems the forum has evolved into a political discussion about the economy and how it relates to the karaoke nightlife business.
Bigdog appears to be on the red team while Wiseguy appears to be on the blue team. I have long ago stepped back from that matrix and see them both as the same team. You could say I am on the Green team, I voted for Jill Stein, who was kept off the ballot in my state (I had to write her in) and the Greens in general are kept from the public eye and discourse through collusion by both democrats and republicans - and their MIC (Military Industrial Complex or Made In China, take your pick) masters.
Obama strikes me as a typical Nixonian republican and as far as i can see, corporate-controlled moderate republicanism has simply moved from the red party to the blue party, while its basic course of worldwide interventionism on behalf of mega-corp intersts continues unabated.
The economy is in the shitter because of the money we spend on so-called "defense" and the interest burden to carry that expense. Jill would have ended these bullshit wars, brought the troops home and used the savings to provide public education up to the "14th" grade (community college). A smarter populace earns more, spends more, simple. And her Green New Deal would have focused funds into renewable energy which - because free energy is cheaper than fossil fuels - would make our dwindling manufacturing base more competitive.
You are both right about the consequences of red-blue policies - money is drying up for everything but the wars and the MIC - neither party wants to cut "defense" to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff, they simply argue about where to raise it...more drones? more battleships? Both?
How this all shakes down to our beloved karaoke business is that Ameritards have almost no choice but to bury their heads in the sands of their dumbphones and high dumbination TVs...pop in a dollar redbluebox DVD and shutthehellup.
I too am down to three gigs a week - for a grand total of $350 notGreenbacks a week. I am opening up a coffeeshop/art gallery/music store in Shallotte midway between Myrtle and Wilmington where I will have a fourth karaoke show once a week, provide karaoke recording sessions, sell obsolescent music media , teach guitar to those few kids not completely consumed by video games, and perhaps move a painting or two. I just got married, and my lovely wife Wendy kicks into the pot as a med tech in a nursing home. We r getting by.
Look, I dig you guys - wiseguy and bigdog - and have very much enjoyed your banter and sincerely wish you the best. But - just like your respective parties - you have to evolve or the world will roll by you. And whether you do so or not, please try to enjoy each day. Regardless of the economy or which tool of the true big dogs is in the White House, we only get a limited amount of mornings to wake up to.
