I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop that I want to use as a Karaoke type setup. I do some intertainment gigs for Senior Centers and play my guitar with downloaded music. I have the downloaded music on my laptop now how do I get it to play into a PA sound system? Should I have an external sound card to get good sound? I'm looking at a PeaVey Escort PA for my PA system. I don't know much about what's out there for hardware to do this stuff. Thanks for any help Sorry I posted this here. I tryed on the Hardware site and it had problems.
Welcome to the forum.
There's no problem using your laptop to play music through an external amp.
You need to get a 3.5mm stereo to twin RCA phono plaug or suitable plug for your amp.
It might have XLR or 1/4" jack plugs, instead.
Go onto Ebay and search for suitable leads.
Here's an example from Ebay UK;
