Last night in the last hour 20 new people came in. In the different groups that meant another 8 new singers.
It was the old...hey we're all drunk let's go to karaoke.
And they all ended up right in front of my table.
After I reach the end of my scheduled 4 hours I decide when the plug gets pulled. If everyone is acting normal I'll keep going, if they are acting goofy...it's lights out.
Last night I was running out of time and I wanted to shut it off quickly. I still ended up play an extra 15 minutes.
I started telling people they couldn't sing again. I told at least 5. Some of those were regulars but my time slots were full.
Then the song bidding started.
One guy pulled out a wad and started peeling off ones. ($5)
One guy started at $10 and quickly went to $20.
One guy said he drove all the way from New York city all day and deserved to sing another song. He needed to sing a country song to make him feel good. (No money....)
Well none of them sang again. I held my ground. Even when I did stop many people were complaining. I have learned to shut off my hearing and emotions at the end of the night. When it's time to pull the plug...it's time and nothing prevents it.
