I just had a bar owner tell me he considers bars that are desperate are using cheap drink prices as a means to get customers.
Really cheap drink prices also ups the odds of attracting undesirable customers. Which in turn drives away the quality customers. It works exactly opposite to their intention to build business.
His sales have been improving and are up from the same months last year. People have told me they consider his prices high. But his business is building. The crowds are what I consider quality people. The undesirables gravitate toward other bars.
This is how I feel about doing karaoke shows that include contests and everything else and the kitchen sink.
You may have a popular show but it's not karaoke.
