Do you ever get hecklers that loudly make fun of singers?
How do you handle them?
Do you feel it's up to you to do or say something to them? Or get the management to do something.
Do you think hecklers could hurt your crowd?
What about people that are just way too noisy near the singers?
What about people that want to sing along in the singers ear loudly and uninvited and you can see the singer is visably not liking it?

I do not put up with hecklers. They are told to shut up or leave. There is no third option. If you mess with a singer while they have a mic you are getting one warning. The second time you will be escorted out.
I never involve the bar management in these things. I always have enough of my regulars there to back me up in any situation.

I tell them that they are next on the mike and that usually shuts them up. I've only had one person call my bluff so I picked I'm a little teapot and handed them the mike. The person never heckled the singers again because he was ten times worse than the previous singer. After going computer, I have never had hecklers in the audience.

I would rather explain to the bar owner how Mr. Bigmouth is going to cause people to leave. He is the one that will lose money.
That will keep the "liability" off me. Legally and physically. If I was 6'5" I would do it myself. Since I'm only 4'9" I don't carry much fear factor.
I don't like loud mouths. And I do want it to end quickly. I do feel it's the bar owners responsibilty to maintain a friendly atmosphere. That makes loud mouth his problem.

The owner should take the responibility. He's the one that will get sued. You could be included because they will say you are an employee of the bar. I'm paid to be the entertainment not the bouncer.
