Ok I am getting closer to answering my own question usb flash drives or usb mp3 players.
The answer seems to be the the usb mp3 player.
Using an Ipod I discoverd Power Karaoke has a program to convert karaoke type files and transfer them to your ipod.
I am still trying to figure out this sofware has anyone tried it if so if you could explain perhaps I am missing something
