There was a time when I thought about putting rental systems together.

But remember to be legal you need to have a set of discs for every system. So that pretty much kills the rental option. Unless you just did something like a $1000 worth of basic music, like a few sound choice bricks.

I would do cheap wired microphones one player or hard drive computer.

That may be something to reconsider with the increase in DUI related stuff.

What kind of problems were you talking about?

With the hard drive piracy thing happening now your original discs are now your most valuable posessions. I don't want anyone handling them or even knowing where they are.

If I did do rentals it would be with a hard drive system and it would be locked so it couldn't be duplicated. And what if someone were to steal the whole thing?

my problem is when i give out the disk sometimes you do not get them all back or they get scarcth i have three different systems the one i used is computerize never let it out of my site the other 2 are disks which i rent out it has basic packs like 15 disks in each on plus i have my disk witch are put away for legal issues here we can only get about 60 dollars for rental of the machine 2 mikes but it is not worth it if you loose disks or they get damage i put a deposit on them but sometimes you dont know if the disk is scarcth or not

what the rented wasn't my full collection but an extra set that had only the basics available for the show. About 1500 songs total.

Karaoke discs are a very delicate item. The slightest scratch can ruin a disc. With many discs becoming unavailable because of the lose and lack of renewal of publishing rights, they are irreplaceable.

I treat every new disc I buy as an irreplaceable item. They go from the package to the burner to be ripped to the hard drive. Then they go back to the package and in a drawer for safe keeping.

The average Joe doesnt take care of the regular CDs they buy. Do you seriously think they will respect and take the time to properly care for your karaoke disc?

I have seen the damage the other KJs have done to their very own cutomers discs. They scratch them.

Today I would never use discs for rental income. Replacing discs that may not be able to be replaced isn't good business sense.
