Several years ago I had a thousand ballpoint pens made up with my business information printed on them. I dropped them on tables and the bar knowing that people would take them. Within a few months they were all gone.

My song request forms are like business cards with my logo and contact information printed on them. I've received many calls on account of these.

Now that's not a bad idea at all. Do you use quarter-sheet size?

The request forms are the exact size of a business card. In fact, I use business card software to create them.

Please tell me more about the business card software. I've been making them in excel. :lol:

Any business card software will do. I use Business Card Designer Plus. It's pretty easy to design a card with your logo, contact information, and two lines labeled Your Name and Song No. Add a thin solid border around the outside edge of the card gives you cut marks. You will get ten request forms per 8.5x11 inch sheet. I use a paper slicer to cut ten sheets at a time.

Any advertising is good.

Targeting your potential cliental is better.

Some advertising can be wasted.

The more times your name and service is seen is good. That's why we see & hear the same commercials over and over. There is also the sumbliminal factor. You may not be in need of a particular product or service at the time you are exposed to the ad, but it all sticks in your mind for recall at a later date/time.

But pencils, pens, business cards, calenders....have a short or limited life span. They usually get tossed in a drawer and forgotten. Calenders get tossed every month.

I have business cards in every book along with calenders and bar posters and ads in my song books. My slips look like business cards. This why I talked about LOGOS before. Name recognition comes with seeing things in certain ways. If I say Coke Cola you know what the lettering looks like. If I say Michelin Tires you see the Michelin Man. Name recognition is also your logo. The way you write your business name on the business card.

Targeting potental customers is a very hard trick. You never know for sure who it will be. What demographic will be involved? What age group? What income level. What education level? Geographic location?

The Advertising business/industry is worh billions each year. Always trying to get the most exposure for each ad dollar. Endless studies are conducted.

I installed the first karaoke sign today. Everyone likes them. Very visable in broad daylight. :D I'll get to see it at night ...tomorrow. 8)

It's not a one man job hanging them. :shock:

I did the easy one today. The next one will take scaffolding to hang. One guy on an eight foot ladder and a 12 foot ceiling could fall and get killed.

I went outside last night to look at the sign. It is absolutely brighter than the beer neons. It's the brightest thing on the building. I tried to take a picture of it with my phone. It's so bright it washed out the scene and it couldn't focus on it. :D

It can really been easily seen from several hundred feet away. Your eye will be draw to it's brightness just for the sake of curiosity.

I got there last night and the sign was dark. :evil: Who knows if it was turned on all week long. :roll:

I turned it on and left it on when I left. It was on today so I assume it stayed on all night & day from me leaving it on. I left it on again tonight. If nobody sees it what good is it.

Maybe if they paid for it, it would be turned on.

I paid for $500 worth of free advertising for them. :shock: At least they could make sure it's used to get some results. :cry:

:idea: I should snap off the on/off switch in the on postition. :idea: :lol: :twisted:

The other bar owner leaves all the beer lights on all the time 24/7. Including my sign. I'm OK with that if it brings in more business. He's got the right idea. Visibility is the key to a successful bar/restaurant business.

Hello All,
I recommend getting a sign that all can see. You need to adverstise that you are there. Advertise in both the men's and ladies rooms. Put a sign up behind the bar.

Get the customers that DO come in and sing to sign up for your 'free members only email newletter'.

No need for Excel, or Business card software as Latshaw systems have a completely free request slip generator.

You can drop clipart onto your slips, etc.

At that kind of money, I would have had an automatic "Dusk 'till Dawn" switch fitted in the sign.

Then you plug it into a non switchable socket and forget about it.
