I actually think it is an excellent idea and I did check out the website. If things weren't so up in the air right now I would probably be looking at one for the deli. Maybe they can remember to turn a damn sign on.

We just received our 60-day notice Monday. Called the attorney to see if the owner was interested in us staying here and I haven't heard back (even though I called again yesterday). My presumption is that we are going to have to move.

Start looking for something else. It could be an opportunity for something bigger and better. 8)

OK I read it again...now I know what you're talking about. That sucks.

You thinking out of state? There are cheaper places to live.

Can't look for something else until I know where we are going. If we stay in CA, we'll stay in this area. If we don't stay in this area, we'll leave the state.

We have a possible gig at one of the local mega-bowling complexes; it's at the franchise GM level now. Also might have the Thursday night bar gig.

If we pick up those two I would only have to worry about finding a part-time job. The difficulty will be in finding someone to rent to us; I'm on unemployment and hubby's hours are down to 28 per week. It's rather scary ... I'm just glad we have a camper for our truck! :D

Hubby's going to redo the cabinet so the unit is a bit more mobile. We almost have my Wagoneer back on the road so we will be able to move everything even in wet weather. Once everything is in order to move things around a bit easier, I'll probably go soliciting.

On that note ... time for me to hit the sack. Have a great one!!

The signs are ordered.....

$1000...both...there was an additional charge for the custom size.

It's only one weeks pay. I'm hoping they get a good return on the investment. I can't wait to see how long it takes to see the results....

Both signs are to hang in bars that are doing karaoke two nights a week.

Let's do some math....

2 nights = $20,000

one sign - $500 = $1.50 per week

Smart KJ - Priceless :D

More explanation.

Both jobs...each has an already well estabished night. Each one has struggling new nights. I give a price break at least the first four weeks. My goal with the signs is to have the crowds built up enough so I don't have to continue with the price breaks. I want full money as fast as possible.

If 75 cents per job, per week gets me there....is it worth it???

75 cents could get me $25 more. In my book that's a high percentage of return on investment. Banks aren't paying close to that kind of money.

Invest 75 cents a week...get back $25 a week

Something I did for the bar ... "personalized" pencils. I was able to get 100 of them for about $20. They all say "Happy Bar Karaoke" and have the phone number. One box lasted about one year.

I haven't done it for the deli because I think they would start giving them all away. Although, they would only be out during the show. Hmmm, I might have to think about that once I know what we're doing.

Those of you who are more professional at this than I am could get them with your name and number. Cheap advertising at twice the price.

Two thoughts...

I lose enough pencils without them stealing them..Thousands over the years...

Who uses those tiny pencils at home anyway??? :nonod:

 Count the tables and make some table tents that will stay there 24/7...with your business name and the karaoke night and your phone number.

See ... now you hurt my feelings. :( These are full size pencils with erasers, not the tiny little ones. And yes, not one pencil at the bar has been used up; they have all sprouted little legs. But that's okay, in my opinion, because every time someone uses the pencil they remember the wonderful time they had at the Happy Bar.

Those table tents will only be seen by folks that are sitting in the bar. The pencils will be seen by folks that, perhaps, have never had the pleasure of attending one of your shows. Something like a business card, but it will be used, not stuffed in a wallet and forgotten. :P

Don't forget most business like bars/restaurants are open by 11AM and some are open at 6AM to handle the people getting off work at 6-7-8 AM. So there are many people in these places all day long.

Advertising can happen at any moment.

Oh, of course. I'm not saying table tents are useless by any means. But they only advertise to the people that are there.
