Fast Tracks will work with CDGrip which is a sister program to Fast TRacks and Compuhost. All three work together but does not require the others to function. If you choose to let Fast Tracks name your songs you need fast tracks (which you already have) along with cdgrip. You already got Fast Tracks and all you need now is a player and a ripper. Both Compuhost and CDGrip are packaged together. One of the features I love about Compuhost is the singer history. It keeps track of songs your singers have sung before as well as the keychange.

If you want a program that will play off of discs as well as off the harddrive you want either Siglos Professional or Hoster.
Microstudio is a great program but it was not meant for hosting purposes and does not have file naming and search features.
You can go with a combination of programs to import and name song tracks, create song books, and play the files with features like song search, key control, and singer rotation.
For an example combination:
Power CD+G Burner to import the songs from CD+G discs while naming them from an online database.
Pilot Song Book Creator (obvious).
JustKaraoke to play the songs with song search and other hosting software features.
Video Hoster with Song Book Creator is the only single application that has all three programs in one.

Sabrina, I did download the trial of JustKaraoke, so far, Hoster was the best, it found the disks I bought to add to my list automatically, where just Karaoke had a limited selection to choose from, I could not get the trial version to play any of my disks, I'm sure it's my lack of experience, I would have to enter the song names manually, for the disks I currently bought, I just got a starter pack to play with.
You guys are all so helpful, this is obviously a passion for you, maybe when I retire I will be able to be as fluent with this conversation as you all are, it does get very expensive if you do it the right way, I just feel as I start buying music if I don't set up song books, download to my hard drive and make back-up disks, it will eventually all be hard to manage, so that is my first chore, I don't have a lot of free time to manually put in all the disks I am going to want to get, on my trial version of Hoster I did not see where I could make back up copies of my disks, am I missing something?

To make backup copies of your discs you will need software like Microstudio or Power CD+G Burner.
So now I am ready to purchase, Micro studio and Holster, is there a value in purchasing the Holster suite for $120 more, also I change laptops every 2 years, will I need to buy all this software again? the company selling the program say there is a moving to another computer feature, with limitations, not sure if transferring every 24 months is excessive in their eyes, also should I purchase the cd rom, I may want to set up all my stuff on a pc rather than constantly dismantling
The Hoster suite contains software, other than Hoster and Microstudio, that you don't need. These are Karaoke Home Producer (for making karaoke song tracks from your own background music and lyrics), Keyrite (a key changer that is already a feature of Hoster), and Vogone (a vocal eliminator for standard audio tracks typically used with Karaoke Home Producer).
