Anyone interested in building a 220V -> 110V Power Distro

Post by letitrip »

I'm not sure how many of you would find this useful so I figured before I post a big long article, I'd ask and see if anyone is interested. In many of the clubs that I work, they have a 220V circuit that I can use to power my equipment. The nice part of this is that I can break it out into multiple 110V circuits using a power distro and this allows me to ensure that I have the proper number and capacity of circuits to run my rig and lighting.

This weekend I just finished building a new distro and decided that while I was building it, I should take some pictures so I could put together a documentation on how I did it.

Would anyone on this board have interest in seeing the steps I followed in order to build my power distro? Let me know folks.

Haven't forgotten about ya, still working on putting the document online. I've got a couple people that asked for it so I'm trying to make sure that's comprehensive before I post it.

OK, I finally finished documenting the process I followed and posted it on the web. Remember (and this is mentioned again in the article) I am not an electrician, I have no training in that regard so I do not in any way warrant or guarantee the technical accuracy of the process I followed. Feel free to use this article to further educate yourselves. However, if you choose to try to duplicate my steps and build one for yourself, you do so at your own peril. OK, disclaimer complete, here's the link:

Way cool! Thanks!! I have a lot of AC experience, so this will be an easy project for me. I would never have dreamed up this simple but effective little unit on my own. Thanks for all the time and effort that you put into taking the pictures, documenting the build process, and providing the links to the parts. You really put some time into this.

Sure thing, I hope it's helpful. A lot of the bands and production companies I've worked with use little distros like that for small gigs. They're really handy. Before I built my first one, I went looking for plans on the web and couldn't find anything. So when building this one I figured what the hell, I'll document it and if anyone finds it helpful, then great. Good luck!!
