no words showing up

Post by intrudermcm »

Can anyone tell me why on some of the cdgs the words don't show up on the tv moniter. At times the same disc that doesn't display the words will after a few trys the words will display. This has happened with one of my new cdg disc that I have just recieved as well as some of the older ones.

It sure sounds like the player to me. I once had a player that did this and it turned out to be a problem with the laser eye tracking.

I'd agree with Wiseguy on this one, sounds like you're player is having issues. Most likely a laser problem, could be a processor issue, but either way I doubt the problem is with the disks. Do check the cheap things first though. Make sure your monitor is working properly and also try using a different cable.

Are you using a video switch? Check the switch and cables.

Clean the player with a disc laser cleaner.

Could be laser alignment problem.

There are no finger prints or scratches on the discs?

Hello All I tried the disc cleaner and that helped a lot. but on one of the new disc that I just bought it still doesn't display the words. It does however have across the top of the tv screen cddg and I don't have a clue what that is. It will work great on my old Radio Shack karaoke machine but the forementioned is what I get on my CAVS. Can you explain this to me. Thanks Larry.

The cddg may be an error code being produced by the player, but that's just a guess. If just one disc is not displaying properly, even if it's new, I would suspect that it's at fault.
