We are going to be getting smaller crowds if this Hops thing increases the price on beer products too much.
Not only do we have DUI stuff and HOPs shortages, they are taking about an increase in the drink taxes.
It almost seems as if local and county governments don't care if many business' will be closing. Except who is going to make up the lost income tax and lost property tax if they drive out all the bar business. This doesn't include the trickle-down fallout to the related supply business. And lost employment. Which will include KJs, DJs and bands.
Much more of these kind of things and drinking will be strictly a home activity to be shared with some close friends and family. Almost in secret. Public drinking gatherings will draw the attention of the Gestapo. Back to the back room Speakeasy. Drinking sleepovers will become the norm, to eliminate Drunk Driving/ liability. Entrance will only be gained by turning over your car keys. In the morning you will get a "blow test" to get them back.
Bar Drink Prices
I owned a nightclub for a few years but there is no way I'd open any type of bar today. With legal blood alcohol limits continuously dropping to the point now where you could get a DUI after two beers, bars being held responsible for the actions of their customers after they leave the bar, laws against smoking in bars, and the rising costs of products, licensing, and taxes.
Then you have the organizations like MADD that are pressuring politicians to create even more laws that would eradicate alcohol consumption altogether if they could.

I called today before I left the house. The female bar manager answered the phone. She said everything was moved. She said the owner told her I sent a letter. She sided with me and said that it holds me up and I have other things to do and enough work. He told her he thought the stuff was being moved for me. She told him no. So for now the area will be ready but you know how everyone starts to go brain dead again.
So today when I walked in all of the Halloween decorations were down. This is Halloween. They had their party Saturday and I guess the karaoke people don't deserve to have a party for their patronage....Stupid bar owners. These people come faithfully week after week. Can that be said for the ones that come to the bar just for the once a year party??????
I'll never understand bar owner mentality...
Wait a minute...a Halloween party on Halloween You must be nuts....

He made all the money without me on Halloween....OK but that was short term money he "saved."
Since the place was full and there were probably many people that were never in his bar before...He missed a big opportunity to make "long term" money by showing the new people that he has the best karaoke night in the entire area. Many could have told other people and he could have increased his steady weekly customer base, which would have added to his yearly profits.
Penny wise...dollar foolish..
This is the typical bar owner mentality.... they never look down the road at money making possibilties.
I lost $175....he lost potentially......thousands
And he did screw the regular karaoke customers out of a party to show them he appreciated their patronage.
Why??? So he could save himself another $50 it would have taken to give away a few gift certificates for his restaurant...in which he could have show cased his new menu and restaurant name change...still more lost long term money trying to save a tiny little up front money....IDIOT
