I hear you wiseguy. I'm getting back in the business after a year hiatus. I was working for friends before. However, now I'm on my own. Once I started researching I realized the library they gave me to use has to be mostly pirated. I'm sure they had some discs for those songs, but no way they have t...

You need the disc or a copy of the download invoice. Forget about ASCAP/BMI the bar owners handle that, not us, EVER. Your only concern is copyright law violations. Okay I get that. So tell me, where are you guys getting your music via download? I've pretty decided I ain't buying jack from Sound Ch...

Well that's the problem. Sound Choice GEM is outrageously expensive. I mean beyond expensive. I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative such as searching for a KJ leaving the business and purchasing the discs then transferring those discs onto my hard drive. Sound Choice did confirm this was okay to ...

I am still trying to figure out how if a venue carries an ASCAP/BMI license the KJ is barred from playing any type of music they want, ripped, downloaded, files given to them, etc. I'm very confused. I have all kinds of songs my singers have brought me that they want to sing. I keep a file for each ...

This is something I've been wondering about. I have worked for friends in the past who simply handed me a hard drive and the equipment and sent me out on gigs. I have no clue if they have the discs for all the songs on the hard drive. I haven't worked for them in a year and I've decided to go out on...
